Lost Days
Release Date:
August 26 2008

Brian Pepper, 30, was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. His parents both played music casually, and at 14 he began playing guitar. Brian picked it up quickly, and was soon writing his own music. His earliest musical influences were the oldies and classic rock radio stations he listened to with his dad. Initially self-taught on the guitar, he later studied formally with a local guitar teacher named John Hedger. Through this, Brian developed a keen interest in the blues of Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and Lightning Hopkins, and later, classical guitar, which he studied for a year. A high school classmate turned Brian on to the music of The Replacements, The Cure, and Nick Drake, and around the same time, Brian discovered the local college radio station, where he was first drawn to the music of Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan, and the alt-country / Americana music that was buzzing just below the radar.
Brian's musical experiences broadened in college, where he studied classical piano and played guitar and piano as a member of the school jazz ensemble. He majored in piano performance and minored in English. He taught piano after college, but soon turned his attention seriously to songwriting, honing his craft and playing open mike nights at Common Grounds coffee house and High on Rose in downtown Lexington.
In 2004, he moved to the Nashville area. His debut full-length release on Ten O Nine Records, "Lost Days", is set for release August 26, 2008. The record contains all original songs which bring together Brian's diverse musical influences and experiences in a powerful and compelling synthesis. The sessions took place at the legendary Delmark Records' Riverside Studios in Chicago, IL, America's oldest independent jazz and blues label, and home of luminaries such as Junior Wells, Magic Sam and Jimmy Dawkins. Brian was accompanied in the studio with a cast of all-star players including Jon Hiller (Chuck Berry, Big Shoulders, Tad Robinson, Eddie Clearwater) on drums, Steve Dvorak (Buddy Guy, Bo Diddley, Junior Wells) on guitar, Mike Keefe (Wicked) on keyboards, Gary Krolak (Sunnyland Slim, Kat Eggleston, Otters, Big Shoulders) on bass and Braden Land on bass and lap steel.
